What Binding Kinetics Can Tell You That Affinity Can't. was created by NMCCANN2
Hey Everyone!
As scientists, we often have to choose which binding affinity technique to use in order to characterize our interactions. The binding affinity is an important number, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Binding kinetics and specificity are critical for understanding the biological system that is being studied, especially for applications such as drug discovery and understanding molecular disease mechanisms.
We created a piece dedicated on this particular topic of why we study binding kinetics and how it serves to provide the whole story rather than relying on binding affinity; the tip of the iceberg.
After reading the blog , let me know if you have any questions, and I will be more than happy to answer your questions. Also, feel free to comment on your own research experiences and what techniques you use to understand the biological system you’re studying.
Cheers.
