Why would you want to immobilize the SH-DNA directly to the gold surface?
Ik think that using a dextran coated chip and a thiol immobilizing protocol will be more efficient.

Just dilute the thiolated DNA (~1uM) in a buffer (I use PBS) and incubate it over a couple of hours. Then, if you want, do an extra half hour long incubation of MCH (1mM) in the dark.
